FinBee TAC's Oblique Imagery

Oblique imagery has revolutionized the world of spatial analysis, especially for government agencies at the federal, state and local levels. This technology allows for precise measuring capabilities for assessors, engineering departments, and allows for smooth and informed dispatch of emergency personnel. The imagery provides an updated map of the area below, showing changes over time and provides other key inputs that will be talked about in this article.

With our oblique imagery services, FinBee uses advanced information systems to supply clients with a cloud-based web hosting experience. This allows organizations to access their imagery without having to process it themselves or use technical and pricey software systems. The imagery is also available immediately and can be downloaded to Esri based software such as Enterprise/Pro Arc GIS. Available in the software are many great tools such as an Ortho mosaic, 3D mesh technology, point cloud for measuring, and advanced elevation data. The Ortho mosaic provides on overview of the area and gives the ability to use a slider tool that shows the changes over time such as new roads, structures, and housing developments.

The 2D imagery in the Ortho comes with a distance measuring tools and elevation data that is shared in DSM and DTM formats. The elevation data is something really interesting and useful. The first to mention is the contour line work.

The next to mention is the standard elevation model. This shows a colored model that ranges from blue to dark red, the blue is lower elevation, and the red is higher. The scale can be altered to show areas with a certain altitude range.

The next elevation data option is a cut and fill map. The map is highly adjustable depending on what data is needed for the project. Cell size, elevation difference, elevation, and volume. This information is essential for land developers or stakeholder that want to know how much earth is needed to move. Landfills also find this data valuable.

Hill shade is another visualization tool that allows accurate measurements in volume and distance. This really helps with knowing exactly where the elevation differences may be and can be overlayed with all the other elevation data.

Now, we have established what the 2D imagery is utilized and the tools that are within it, we will explain the benefits and tools of the 3D point cloud. You can think of a point cloud as a bunch of pixels that are oriented in 3D. This allows you to measure very accurately such as height, angle, distance, area, and the profile of that elevation. You can of course annotate all of these measurements and make notes as needed.

The elevation profile is a quick and easy way to determine the height of structures and how that relates to the ground below and other structures around it. You can simply drag the marker and gain an elevation anywhere on the point cloud. This is a very quick way to measure or see drainage issues in the area. Here height is being measured but angle, area, distance, and volume are gathered all the same way.

Finally, the mesh creates a solid image from the point cloud. This is an exact digital twin of the imagery it captures. This is beneficial for organizations of all types as it gives an understanding how everything is laid out and what may need to be addressed and monitored. Planning really benefits with a digital twin of the project area.

The technology we provide is revolutionizing the way geospatial analysis is conducted. The data we are able to collect and provide for governments allow them to manage their responsibilities in a more efficient and smarter way. AI layers can be utilized and OIC files to inspect a specific location in greater detail. As we continue to develop as a company you will see FinBee TAC chase excellence. Management of this data is even easier for organizations with our cloud-based software. It doesn't require any storage and is lightning fast when using the tools within. We also don't require organizations to maintain a subscription to keep their imagery such as Near Map and Eagle View does. Our imagery is around 1.6 GSD and also beats our competitor's quality. If your organization is interested in our services, please reach out for a demo and see what is possible.
